Spanish

Welcome!

Welcome back students, parents, and new Lenart Families! Hoping everyone enjoyed this Summer and spent a lot of family quality time.  I was able to hit the road this Summer and head to California to check off Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks off my bucket list!  It was an unbelievable and magical experience. smiley

My name is Ms. Torres and I will be your student's Spanish teacher this school year.  I'm from Chicago, Latina, and grew up in Little Village.   I enjoy going on road trips, hiking, stargazing, arts and crafts, kayaking, and biking.  This will be my 12th year teaching and 8th year teaching at Lenart.  I've taught from pre-k to 12th grade and in the CPS and Charter School districts.  I consider Lenart my second home and I'm grateful to be part of this amazing family.

The Main goal for our Spanish Enrichment Program is to aid students in becoming proficient speakers of Spanish and to also have a better understanding and appreciation of other cultures where the language is spoken.  I will expose students to various methods of language learning in hopes that they can apply them in High School, Career, and life even if they choose a different language other than Spanish in the future.

I truly believe that for our students to be successful, we must have a strong partnership.   Please encourage your student to practice Spanish outside of school hours in an interesting personal way.  There are many resources on this website such as Music playlists, books, and games.  A simple google search can also provide you with tons of resources available for free.  Sometimes even a simple " What's one phrase you practiced in Spanish this week that you can teach me?" or if you are at the supermarket you can give them challenge like "How many fruits/ colors can you name?"

Simple questions can go a long way!!!

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to work with you and your student.  I'm looking forward to an immersive and successful year.
